The musicians from The Endless Journey are getting ready to fly to Heathrow tonight to begin their UK tour. Here’s what Alhousseini has been doing.
‘ I have just bought two sacks of rice and millet, so that my family will have enough to eat during my absence. Mamane, Bammo and Oumarou will do the same soon. Some purchase must be done before the departure: I just got new leather sandals from somebody who came from Ingall from the north of the country. You get the best sandals from there or from Agadez. Oumarou has asked a carpenter to build a special box for his princess drum who will travel for the first time to Europe. Bammo has a beautiful new tunica for this trip. His brother Seffou embroidered it for 6 months’.
