Another successful WOMAD.
9th August 2011
WOMAD’s festival in Charlton Park, Malmesbury was a huge success all round with audience figures bucking the national trend and going up by 29% on last year, 35,000 on site each day. And our artists were proud to be part of the success story – Kawa Circus amazed everyone with their special brand of Rajasthani circus skills, El Tanbura turned the main stage arena into a Tahrir Square replica and Savoy Family Cajun Band pulled in one of the biggest crowds ever seen in the Siam tent on a Sunday lunchtime!
Sarah Savoy gave us a fascinating insight into Cajun history and culture, joined on stage by brothers Joel and Wilson, before going on to join her family for a rousing finale over at the Taste The World stage. Joel even had enough energy left to appear at midnight as a guest of Feufollet over on the BBC Radio 3 stage.
